“You do not need to seek freedom in a different land, for it exists with your own body, heart, mind, and soul.” – B.K.S Iyengar

Yoga is the practice of bringing the mind into the body.

It can take many forms: a fluid activity linking movement to breath; a restorative, relaxing experience where one surrenders into stillness; a guided meditation done lying on the floor or sitting in a chair.

Regardless of the style, by using the breath as a tool, clients can achieve an increased sense of awareness, take control of their emotions, and experience a deeply profound effect on the way they see themselves. This change in perspective is extremely helpful as we dive into the therapeutic process.

Such awareness makes the integration of yoga and therapy ideal. Symptoms such as anxiety and depression are greatly alleviated by simple yoga practices, breathing, and/or guided meditation.

The integration of yoga and therapy can be done with people of all ages. It is a creative process that is informed by the needs of the client. The use of yoga can be a centerpiece of the work that we do, or it can be a very minimal part of our work together.
